Stanford and Berkeley graduate, Prof. Sean McMeekin has compiled the period from Abdulhamid's ascension to the throne until Lausanne in a 526-page book titled The Last Chapter in the Ottoman Empire. ‘I was very impressed by Ataturk’s putting forward his vision of a constitutional Republic of Turkey, instead of using his military prestige in 1922 to seek to become sultan.’
Der Stanford- und Berkeley-Absolvent Prof. Sean McMeekin hat die Zeit von Abdulhamids Thronbesteigung bis Lausanne in einem 526 Seiten starken Buch mit dem Titel „Das letzte Kapitel im Osmanischen Reich“ zusammengefasst. „Ich war sehr beeindruckt von Atatürks Vision von 1922, eine verfassungsmäßige Republik Türkei zu schaffen, anstatt sein militärisches Prestige zu nutzen, um das Sultanat anzustreben.“
