After 1938, as Turkey moved away from the principles of Kemalism, it struggled with economic problems, alienated its democratic wealth, differed from Atatürk in defining the rights of citizens and national citizens and therefore went through years of social polarization.

Atatürk and Military Officers Monument, Ankara is the largest statue in Turkey and the 4th largest in the world. The monument was made by sculptor Tankut Öktem between 1982 and 1988 and depicts Atatürk wearing a marshal's uniform and 550 cadets behind him. There is also a large bust of Atatürk on the base of the monument.
