The Turks are filling the power vacuum left by the US in Africa, Ukraine, the Middle East and especially Syria. Turkey took part as a playmaker in the formation of the new government in Syria after the overthrow of the Assad regime. Turkey, which played a peacemaking role in the crisis between Ethiopia and Somalia, also prevented Russia from dominating the Black Sea with the support it provided for the defense of Ukraine.
