US President Trump's statements over the weekend fueled concerns that the increasing tension in trade with the tariffs could trigger an economic slowdown.
On the other hand, while retaliatory statements against the US tariffs continue, the Premier of Canada's most populous province, Ontario, Doug Ford, announced that they will impose an additional 25 percent fee on the electricity they provide to US states in return for the customs duties.
If the US escalates this,Ford, who said he would not hesitate to cut off electricity completely, stated that Trump was responsible for this trade war.
While developments regarding tariff policy continue to influence the direction of the markets, Trump's 25 percent customs duty on steel and aluminum imports is also expected to come into effect on March 12.
