In order for amphibious vehicles to enter the water, the shore features (slope, width, soil hardness, surface smoothness, etc.) must be adapted to the capabilities of different vehicles. There are standard military construction equipment that can be used for this purpose, but their biggest disadvantage is that they cannot provide the same preparation requirement for the opposite shore, as they do not have the ability to swim. Therefore, it is essential to transport these vehicles to the other side of the river. However, the need for transportation reduces the flexibility and success of the operation, and also affects the duration of the movement. Another limitation regarding the use of standard construction equipment is that other carrier vehicles are often required for the transportation of these vehicles to the action area.
Unlike standard construction equipment, KUNDUZ has the ability to take ballast from the ground to the ballast tank and a system to discharge this ballast at the end of the operation in order to increase its work capacity by increasing its weight when necessary. While the vehicle is stationary and the dozer blade is mobile in ordinary construction equipment, the dozer blade is fixed to the vehicle in KUNDUZ.
Thanks to the special hydraulic suspension system, the front of KUNDUZ can be lowered and raised, and the contact and entry of the blade or the ballast tank to the ground can be ensured. Therefore, more effective digging and shoveling can be performed and all these activities can be carried out while the vehicle is in motion.
