Ferrari Unveils the Car It Will Use in the 2025 World Endurance Championship
Ferrari has unveiled the retro design of its 499P Le Mans Hypercar vehicles for the 2025 World Endurance Championship (WEC). The Italian manufacturer will be on the tracks for its third season with a dark red tone inspired by the past. Ferrari's head of sports car racing, Antonello Coletta, stated that the new color is similar to the tone used in the 70th anniversary victory at Le Mans in 2019. The new design is detailed with Modena yellow lines. These lines are now on the top of the car, rather than the side. The main reason for the change is the need for new LED light panels to show the car’s position. Coletta explained that these yellow details are a reference to the 312PB Group 6 prototype from the 1970s. Mario Andretti and Jacky Ickx won the Sebring 12 Hours in 1972 with this yellow-detailed car. Ferrari will retain last year’s lineup for the 2025 season. The #50 car will be driven by Nicklas Nielsen, Antonio Fuoco and Miguel Molina, while the #51 car will feature Antonio Giovinazzi, James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi. The WEC season gets underway at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar on February 28, with pre-season testing taking place at the same track on February 21-22.
