According to CNN, hundreds of couples have applied in Thailand, where same-sex marriage has been legalized.
Within the scope of the law, which was supported by the King of Thailand and passed by parliament, same-sex couples will be able to marry with full legal, financial and medical rights as well as child adoption and inheritance rights.
In a statement made by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, he said, “This marriage equality law symbolizes the beginning of Thai society's increasing awareness of gender diversity and our understanding of embracing everyone regardless of sexual orientation, race or religion. This is a step that reaffirms that everyone has equal rights and dignity.”
At least 200 couples have applied with the legalization of same-sex marriage.
