Boğaziçi University, based on Article 154 of the Turkish Penal Code, has decided to suspend the activities of some clubs and societies until March 28, 2025. The Presidency of the university stated that the clubs and societies in question clearly encourage acts that constitute a crime.
According to the decision, the board members of the Atatürkist Thought, Science, Informatics, Bridge, Translation, Environment, Mountaineering, Dance, Literature, Education and Research, Electrotechnology, Photography, Gastronomy and Degustation, Fine Arts, Aviation, Cartoon and Humor, Village and Cooperative Management, Cave Research, Debate, Music, Game, Radio Boğaziçi, Chess, Cinema, Social Sciences, Social Service, Underwater Sports, and Historical Studies clubs will be dismissed from office and the activities of these clubs will be suspended. Likewise, the activities of the Marxist Idea, BÜÇEV - Linguistics, LÖSEV Benefit, BÜMED Student, Knitting, and Socialist Idea communities will also be frozen.
